In this post we’ll use our eyes and ears to compare two different versions of 7 years piano sheet music.
7 years is a song by Lukas Graham.
Really big in 2016.
And it sounds great on piano.
As we’re about to find out.
Because below we compare an easy version of sheet music…
With a harder version – I’m going to call it the hard version. But it’s more of an intermediate level. I just prefer to think of this post as easy vs hard. More interesting that way.
(I have included links to both versions of the sheet music at the end)
So read on… and listen on… and hopefully this post helps you pick one to learn. Because it really does sound great on piano.
Let’s get started:
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Intro
We’ll start with the intro.
The easy version of the intro is shown just below.
You’ll notice that it’s just single notes in the right and left hand.
Which is what you’d expect from some easy sheet music.
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Intro – Easy Version
I like that it provides the chord names for each harmony change. So if you know your piano chords, you can add some of your own ideas to the music.
Now we’ll take a look at the intro for the hard sheet music.
And you’ll notice it’s very similar:
The right hand plays exactly the same notes as the easy version, although it has been articulated with some slurs.
However, the left hand plays the full chords (triads) rather than just one note. So the sound is a bit fuller.
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Intro – Hard Version
Now let’s move on to the chorus.
Because that’s the next part of the song.
It’s a bit strage that way.
I mean, usually songs go:
Intro – Verse – Chorus.
But I think Intro – Chorus – Verse works real well in this song.
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Chorus
So the easy piano sheet music version is shown just below.
Again it’s just single notes in both the right and left hand.
Nice and easy.
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Chorus – Easy Version
Now take a look at the hard version:
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Chorus – Hard Version
Again it’s block chords in the left hand with (mostly) single note melody in the right hand.
So it’s actually not that much more difficult than the easy version.
To finish of this post, we’ll take a quick look at the verse:
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Verse
No surprises here.
However, there is a quarter note in the left hand for that quick F/A harmony.
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Verse – Easy Version
Now, let’s take a look at how the hard version approaches the verse:
7 Years Piano Sheet Music – Verse – Hard Version
Okay so something a bit different here. Sixteenth notes in the left hand.
Actually, I think it makes for an interesting effect.
Anyway, that’s about all for this post.
I hope you enjoyed it.
And I hope you got some value from the audio snippets too.
Here are the links to both versions:

I hope that makes sense.
So a big thank you if you do decide to purchase one (or both) of these versions.
